Starting Your Arcade

Are you interested in starting your own arcade? Well then, the first thing you will be needing is a domain, make sure you pick a good one not something like: The-Free-Online-Game-Arcade-Site.com, this is too long and people wont bother typing it out all the time, when they can type something like FlashCent.com! You can register your domain at places like enom, godaddy, namecheap, etc. Look around for the cheapest price! You can purchase domains for around $7.95.

After you have your domain, you need to get some webhosting, an arcade website uses alot of space and bandwidth, so you should check out a package at Site5, they have very good prices on their hosting packages, their smallest package should be good for awhile!

Purchasing a Script

Once you have your domain and hosting, you need to purchase a script. FlashCent uses a very nice one called PhpArcadeScript. It is very easy to change, and it is not encoded (you can edit anything). Adding templates is very easy (if you know a little html/php).

PhpArcadeScript will cost you a one-time fee of $30 for the script and 150 games pre-loaded in the arcade. If you want them to set it up for you, you can pay $40 for the script, the 150 games and installation! You may not use this script on as many websites as you want though, you will need to purchase a new licence for every domain you want to use it on. You also will get free support! Getting Visiters

Now your arcade is up, everything is working good... One problem, you have no visiters or players! So you can now submit your sites to toplists (check the buttons on the left menu, near the bottom) They will bring you about 20 visiters a day (all together) some will get you more. Thats not enough though, submit your site to directories, you may not get much or no traffic from them, but directories have a Pagerank (used by google to show how important the site is, and get your link higher in search engines). If you have not already done so, submit your site to as many search engines as possible, some of the most important ones are Google, Yahoo and MSN. Make sure you do this, soon most of your traffic will come from search engines.

Once all that is done, you need to start getting link exchanges happening, go to some arcade toplist (which you should have already signed up for) and go to the sites on the toplist. 99% of them will have a link exchange option where you can signup, and put their link on your website, and they will add your link to your website, this is also a very good way to get traffic to your website.

Keeping Your Visiters

Keeping your visiters is a very hard and important thing to do. Some ways you can keep your visiters coming back to your website can be:

Add new games at least every week, if people keep coming back, and there are no new games, they would find another arcade which adds games faster the you.
Give prizes or rewards to your visiters, for example have a contest where the person with the highest score in a game will win $5 or $10. Be sure that they provide proof, a screenshot would be good, make sure that it wasnt edited in a photo editing program, this may be tricky to see.

There are other unique ways you can keep your visiters, but those are just some of the ways I can share with you.

Getting a Design

Once you have some visiters, you will need to make a new template for your arcade site. Some visiters will come to your arcade site just because they like your template. If you cant create a template by yourself, you can hire a webdesigner to make them for you. Most charge around $150+ for a good template and may also add the script you are using into it.

Making Money

Now, did you really think you will be doing all this work and you wont be getting anything in return? Your wrong! Arcades can make a lot of money, every pennie you spend on your site will eventually pay off. For example, I spent around $40 creating this website. In 2 months, I have made 625% of the amount I spent on the website. Thats just 2 months, think about how fast you will start making thousands a month by simply spending a few dollars setting up your arcade.

The first way you can make money, is by signing up for a program called 'Adsence' This program pays you every time a visiter clicks on an ad. You can easily make hundreds using this program. The only downfall on this is that they dont offer paypal payments (which alot of people would like)... They only offer checks, and some countries cannot recieve these checks. You can signup for Adsence here!

Another way, is with a Chitika eMiniMall. This program will add a small 'Mall' on your website, where you can pick which products will be shown there (for example, computer games). This program pays out through paypal ($10 min) and also checks ($50 min). This is a very good way to make money, and you can also use this along with adsence to make even more money! The last way I will be telling you on how to make money is to put text and banner advertisments on your website. All you need to do is set a price, and then go to forums (webmaster forums) like Namepros.com, forums.Digitalpoint.com and let people know of your offer. Be sure to provide them with your traffic stats and other information.
